Canterbury Film Factory runs children's film workshops in and around Canterbury.

These are fun sessions that teach hands-on smartphone production skills for 11 to 17 year olds.

Led by broadcast TV professionals, the workshops  teach practical skills to create great films with a smartphone camera or a DSLR and introduce students to free video editing apps and software.

Canterbury Film Factory workshops teach valuable production skills:

- ideas and script development, production planning

- directing, camera skills and operation, with tips and tricks for ‘in-camera’ visual effects

- acting and performing for camera

- post-production: editing, audio and simple visual effects

Every term finishes with a friends and family screening as well as digital files to take away.

While taught and guided by professional working film-makers, all films created during Canterbury Film Factory workshops are conceived, written, performed, filmed and edited by the students.

In addition to creative skills and film production, students will learn creative AV skills for social media and online video production that will make them an asset for any future employer. These skills will be backed up by applicable levels of certification.

Students don't need access to a smartphone, digital camera or DSLR to take part in the sessions as we do have equipment available, but to take the learning home with them and really get the best out of the workshops, it would be an advantage.

We work hard to be ‘platform agnostic’ and work with both android and iPhone products.
Most of t
he software we use is either multi-platform or has alternatives across platforms.

All workshops are led by TV professionals with DBS certification, first-aid training and full public liability insurance.
